Amateur photograph Oleg Ivanov captures a massive storm cloud that covered a beach in Baltiysk near the northwest Russian coast this summer.

When a storm hits, most are concentrated on finding shelter - not capturing stunning images of the impending downpour.
But amateur photographer Oleg Ivanov did just that when massive clouds covered the sky above a beach in Baltiysk near the northwest Russian coast this summer.
"As a photographer, I couldn't bring myself to leave the beach when there were such amazing pictures to be taken," Ivanov, who works as a ship mechanic, told the Sun.
“It was really scary even for me - a person who works in the sea and knows it well.”

A hand-like cloud covers the sky as the impending storm nears. ‘The clouds were so unusual, and people were starting to get worried,’ Ivanov told the Sun.
Ivanov's incredible photos show the sky turning black moments before the clouds open up and unleash torrential streams of rain, with one even capturing a lightning strike.

The 59-year-old photographer said that the storm was an unusual experience for many in Baltiysk, even though bad weather is commonplace in the region.
"[People] usually just stay on the beaches in the rain, and some will swim even during the storm - but on this occasion, everyone took shelter inside."

Beachgoers flee the shore as a massive cloud opens up and unleashes a torrential stream of rain.
Ivanov said that his fear was short-lived since the storm ended as quickly as it began.
"There was a feeling that this shelter wouldn't save us," Ivanov told the Sun. "But the rain stopped suddenly like there was no rain at all, and it was over as quickly as it had begun
